What is Valley?

Valley Supported Living is a supported living scheme for adults with learning disabilities, run by family members. It was set up by a group of parents from the Rossendale Valley in 2003 who wished to see their sons and daughters settled in homes of their own choosing, with support teams they have been involved in employing.

On the 8th May 2006 Valley Supported Living became a Registered Domicilary Agency following its succeful application to the Commission for Social Care and Inspection ( C.S.C.I. ) and from this date we have now started to do some planning with a number of individual people who have expressed a desire to move into their own home with a variety of support needs.

The aim of the organisation is to assist people with learning disabilities who currently live in the Rossendale Valley, or those who previously lived in the valley and wish to return to live here, to find ordinary housing in their own area, and to provide paid support teams who will assist individuals according to their personal needs and wishes.  The person to be supported will be actively involved at each stage of the planning process for their future, in conjunction with Valley and other service providers.

Valley Supported Living is an independent, non-profit making group, Registered Charity Number 1105775. It is a member of the Federation of Local Supported Living Groups which promotes the development of family-led groups in the North West of England.

In accordance with the Valley Supported Living constitution, it is necessary for family members/carers wishing to join our group to become members, for which a £5.00 annual membership fee is charged
